LOOSE STEEL FIBER

DTC provides loose steel fiber to its customers. DTC has a dealership contract with Forcetech which is a specialized supplier of steel fiber and related products. Forcetech uses its’ state-of-the-art facility and cutting-edge technology to provide DTC with superior quality steel fiber products that we use in our construction projects. We have contracted with Forceyech to live up to our promise of providing construction solutions (from minor to major accessories and structures) of unmatched quality to offer superior services in KSA.

Loose steel fiber can be used as such when mixed with concrete to make concrete slabs which are then used in the construction of flooring. They are ideal to use when you need to place a block of steel fibers on concrete. Mixing steel fibers with concrete enhances the strength and toughness of concrete slabs making them ideal for flooring by increasing their ability to withstand heavy loads (both static and dynamic) without cracking or chipping.

TYPES OF LOOSE STEEL FIBER

The loose steel fiber is mostly used in its’ cold-drawn form with hooked ends which makes it even more feasible to use. The loose steel fiber with hooked ends can anchor the concrete mix even more strongly enhancing the overall strength of the concrete slab.

In general loose steel, fibers can be used in various shapes including:

  • Straight
  • Hooked
  • Crimped
  • Twisted
  • Coned
  • Undulated

The length of loose fibers can also vary depending upon the project requirement. It is available in a length of:

  • 30 mm to 60 mm

The diameter of loose steel fiber can also vary which is also subjected to its’ usage requirement. The diameter can range from

  • 4 mm to 1.3 mm

PERFORMANCE OF LOOSE STEEL FIBERS

The performance of loose steel fibers largely depends upon the shape, diameter, and length. The fibers of long length and small diameters perform better due to elevated anchorage capability. The ratio of fiber length to diameter defines the performance of steel fibers and the concrete slab they are added in. Ideally, the higher the ratio of length/diameter (aspect ratio) the higher should be performance. But in reality, the long loose fibers can ball together limiting the disperse of fibers while mixing in concrete which can affect its performance.

This is why there is no one-size-fits-all formula to elevate the performance of steel fibers. Rather the aspect ratio depends upon the project requirement.

DTC AND LOOSE STEEL FIBERS:

At DTC, we use loose steel fibers (Fibmix) procured from Forcetech. We used the hooked end loose fibers that can offer great tensile strength and possess exceptional mechanical properties. Using such fibers of high strength and ensuring steady distribution of steel fibers, DTC can disperse the load stress quite comfortably effectively preventing cracks.

The properties of the loose steel fiber we use are as follows:

  • Length: Ranges from 25 mm to 60 mm
  • Diameter: Ranges from 0.5 mm to 1.05 mm
  • Aspect ratio: ≥50
  • Material used: bright and non-coated steel bar with low carbon content
  • Tensile strength: ≥1100Mpa
  • Packaging: each bag contains 25kg of fibmix loose steel fiber
